What is a Referral?

Students who have already completed the classroom and pool training sections as well as the first 2 open-water trainng dives of an Entry-Level Scuba certification course with a recognised training agency can travel with Cairns Dive Centre to make their final 2 open-water training dives in the ocean to complete their certification.  (Do not choose this option if you are already a certified diver, if you wish to snorkel or if you wish to make Introductory dives.)

Departing daily from the Marlin Jetty, the M.V. Sun-Kist visits 2 different dive/snorkel locations each day from a choice of Milln, Briggs, Moore and Thetford Reefs - approximately 38 nautical miles (64 kilometers) from the coast of Cairns.

The experienced Sun-Kist crew - selected for their local knowledge and love of the Cairns region and the ocean - will take you to the best dive sites available.

Enjoy a Day-Trip with 2 Instructor-supervised training dives to complete your certification.

Important Notes:

You must provide a complete set of Referral paperwork from your Referring Dive Centre before travelling with CDC.  This must include an AS4005.1 Australian Dive Medical certificate.  If you fail to provide CDC with full and correctly completed Referral paperwork then we may not be able to complete your certification.  All Referral Students are recommended to have their paperwork checked by CDC in person or by email/fax at least 48 hours prior to travel.

Please note that the following conditions may prevent you from diving or gaining a AS4005.1 medical clearance for a dive course:

• asthma, epilepsy, diabetes
• any heart or lung conditions
• any major operations
• some prescription medications

Check-In and Boarding is at 08:15am from E finger, Cairns Marlin Marina.  You may bring as much personal dive/snorkel equipment as you choose.

Please note that cancellations incur a 20% penalty.  Cancellations made within 48 hours of travel incur a 100% penalty.
